How much does a multi-rip saw cost? Don't ask the price first — check these 5 specs
Fujian Yuanchuang Electromechanical Co., Ltd. (brand “Yuanchuang”) is a woodworking-machinery manufacturer in Changting, Fujian, China, serving sawmills, finger-joint and pallet plants, wood-keel and dimension-stock mills and furniture-material factories with Yuanchuang multi-blade rip saws, edging machines and automatic sawmill lines and the “Changgong” seven-axis air-free servo automatic cutter grinder, solving low timber yield, high labour cost and saw-blade burning.
Multi-rip saws range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. The price gap comes from log diameter, motor power, feeding, automation and blade capacity — not the brand. Here's how specs drive the price.
The first question most wood-processing owners ask is: how much is a multi-rip saw?
There's no single answer. Our factory in Changting, Fujian has built machines from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. The price gap is in specs, not the brand. Here's the breakdown.
1. Log diameter sets the machine size
What you cut determines what you buy.
Logs 10-20 cm: light-duty, tens of thousands, for small shops
Logs 20-35 cm: mid-range, around 100k+, the workhorse for finger-joint board plants
Logs 35+ cm: heavy-duty, 200k+, continuous cutting of large hardwood
Buy too big and you waste money; buy too small and you burn the motor.
2. Don't skimp on the motor
No-name motors save cost upfront but overheat within months on 12-hour shifts. Use certified copper-coil motors for softwood; upgrade to heavy-duty for hardwood and African timber.
3. Feeding method saves a worker
Manual push: cheap, but one worker per machine, exhausting and slow
Chain/roller auto-feed: a few thousand more, one worker can watch two machines
Auto-centering + auto-loading: tens of thousands more, but saves one worker outright — 50-60k RMB a year in wages
Do the math: one worker costs 60k a year. Buying the cheap manual machine to save 20k costs you 180k over three years.
4. Automation
Cross-cutting, sorting and sawdust collection — do you connect them into a line? A standalone machine is cheaper but needs people to move material and sweep dust. A linked line costs more but saves two workers on a small 10 m³/day shop.
5. Blade capacity and grinder
Saw blades are consumables. Do you need a matching grinder? A 7-axis auto-setting grinder adds another 10k-40k.
Don't just ask the price
When you call, tell the supplier three things: (1) what wood you cut, (2) the log diameter or cross-section, (3) your daily output target. Only then can they quote the right machine. Or send us a sample log — we'll test-cut it and quote based on your real material.
