1. The welding shop, not the showroom
The showroom machine is for display; what gets welded in the shop is what you buy.
Is the frame thick-walled square steel? Tap it — dull thud means thick, ringy means thin
Are welds continuous? Spot-welded frames wobble within a year
Is it milled on a CNC center or hand-welded?
2. The electric cabinet, not just the motor
Motors are off-the-shelf; the cabinet is where corners get cut.
Are contactors real brands (Schneider/CHINT) or no-name?
Is there thermal overload protection? Without it, a burned motor is a total loss
Are wires numbered? A rat's nest means even their own tech won't want to service it
3. Demand a live test cut
Don't look at a static display. Bring your own material and make them run it:
Measure board thickness after cut — how far off?
Run it 10 minutes, does the spindle get hot?
Any squeal or smoke?
If they won't turn it on, walk out.
4. Who's assembling it
Machine quality is 70% assembly. Is the fitter a 22-year-old apprentice or a 10-year veteran?
5. How fast is after-sales
A down machine costs you a day's production. Ask: how fast can someone reach Fujian/Guangdong/Jiangxi? Video support or on-site? Are wear parts in stock?
